Mizoram Sports Minister Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar yesterday held a felicitation programme for six Mizo futsal players who were part of the Indian team that won the silver medal at the 2026 SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) Futsal Championship.
Speaking at the function held at the Minister’s Office, MINECO, Pu Lalnghinglova Hmar said it was a matter of pride that six Mizo youths were included in the Indian team. He noted that once players reach the international level, the journey is never easy. The fact that such a significant number of Mizo players were selected for the Indian team, and that the team went on to win a silver medal, reflects the high level of talent among Mizo players. He added that continued dedication and hard work would yield positive results.
The Sports Minister also mentioned that the Mizo players who represented India would be included in the Mizoram Sports Incentive Cash Award distribution programme.
The Mizo players who represented India at the SAFF Futsal Championship are Jonathan Lalrawngbawla, Vincent Laltluangzela, H. Lalrinzuala, K. Roluahpuia, Lalsangkima, and Lalsawmpuia.
