Michael Carrick Appointed Manchester United Head Coach for Remainder of the Season

Manchester United has appointed former player Michael Carrick as head coach in a bid to steady their faltering season. Carrick took charge on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim last week.

The former England midfielder enjoyed a decorated playing career at Old Trafford, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League. Carrick also served as an assistant coach at United and previously had a brief, unbeaten three-game spell as interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in 2021.
