Manipur Police Nab Four Militants in Targeted Extortion Operation

Manipur security forces have arrested four active militant cadres involved in extortion and other criminal activities, officials reported on January 21. The arrests were made during targeted intelligence-led combing, cordon, and search operations across the state.

Among those detained was Senjam Premjit Singh (38), an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (Taibanganba), apprehended in Langthabal Khunou Mamang Leikai, Thoubal district. Authorities recovered a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card from him.

On the same day, Chingakham (Ningol) Ningthoujam (O) Rebika Devi (43), a female cadre of the National Revolutionary Front of Manipur, was arrested from her residence in New Lambulane Lane-III, Porompat, Imphal East district. Originally from Churachandpur district, a mobile phone was seized during the operation.

Another female militant, Nongthombam Abesana Devi alias Machan (21) of the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL), was apprehended from Huikap Makha Leikai, Andro, Imphal East district, with a mobile phone recovered from her possession.

Additionally, Bungcha Thoudam alias Khamba (30), an active member of the People’s Liberation Army (Manipur)/Revolutionary People’s Front, was arrested in Singjamei Makha Khongnang Pheidekpi, Imphal West district, and a mobile phone was seized from his residence.

Officials stated that these operations are part of a broader effort to dismantle extortion networks and curb militant-linked criminal activities in the state.
