On January 22, a Joint Action Committee led by MP Dr. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, along with MLAs Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh and Kangujam Ranjit Singh, met Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to submit a memorandum seeking action following the death of Mayanglambam Rishikanta Singh. The delegation, accompanied by the deceased’s family, voiced serious concerns over the incident and called for a fair and thorough investigation.
Expressing his condolences to the family, Governor Bhalla informed the delegation that the case has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for an impartial probe. He added that intensive combing operations have been underway since last night to apprehend those responsible, with coordinated efforts between State and Central security forces.
Assuring the delegation of the government’s commitment, Governor Bhalla said all necessary legal measures are being taken and reiterated his deep regret over the tragic loss of life.
