Amid ongoing concerns over the humanitarian and security situation in Manipur, representatives of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla on Monday, January 12, at Lok Bhavan in Imphal to seek urgent intervention on issues affecting thousands displaced by the unrest.
During the meeting, the delegation highlighted key challenges faced by IDPs, including uncertainty over resettlement, rehabilitation, and personal safety. They also drew attention to the prevailing situation in areas along the Valley and Hill district borders, stressing the need for coordinated administrative action and enhanced security measures.
Governor Bhalla assured the delegation that the state administration has already initiated steps toward the resettlement and rehabilitation of displaced families. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, phased, and dignified return of IDPs to their respective areas, in line with ground realities.
The Governor further stated that sustained efforts are being made to restore normalcy, address humanitarian concerns, and maintain peace and security in sensitive regions. The Chief Secretary and the Commissioner (Home) were also present at the meeting, underscoring the administration’s continued engagement with stakeholders as the situation evolves.
