Imphal, March 4: The Government of Manipur on Wednesday issued a notification allocating portfolios to members of the newly formed Council of Ministers. The notification was issued by the Secretariat, Confidential & Cabinet Department, in pursuance of Rule 6(1) of the Rules of Business of the Government of Manipur, and was signed by Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel.
According to the order, the Governor of Manipur, on the advice of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, has allocated departmental responsibilities to the two Deputy Chief Ministers and two cabinet ministers, while the Chief Minister will oversee any department not specifically allocated to other ministers.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen has been assigned the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department as well as the Tribal Affairs and Hills Department. And another Deputy Chief Minister, Losii Dikho of NPF, has been given charge of the Public Health Engineering Department and the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department.
Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh will head the Home Department along with the Youth Affairs and Sports Department, and Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh of the NPP has been entrusted with the Arts and Culture Department as well as the Tourism Department.
According official sources, the allocation of portfolios formalizes the responsibilities of the ministers in the new government and is expected to streamline administrative functioning across key departments of the state.
