Lord Peter Mandelson Steps Down from Labour Party Amid Epstein Payment Allegations

Former UK minister Lord Peter Mandelson has resigned from the ruling Labour Party following renewed scrutiny over his links to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Mandelson, who was removed from his post as UK ambassador to the US last year due to previous connections with Epstein, was named in the latest tranche of documents released by the US Department of Justice on Friday.

The files indicate that Epstein made three payments totaling $75,000 to Mandelson between 2003 and 2004.

In a letter to the Labour Party’s general secretary, Mandelson expressed regret over the association and insisted the allegations were false, calling for a proper investigation.

The Department of Justice’s release included over three million pages of investigative material, more than 2,000 videos, and approximately 180,000 images linked to Epstein’s activities.
