Lieutenant Colonel Sita Ashok Shelke has been selected for the Subhas Chandra Bose National Award for Disaster Management 2026 in the individual category, in recognition of her remarkable contributions and leadership in the field of disaster management. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting also announced that the Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority will receive the award in the institutional category for its exemplary efforts in strengthening disaster preparedness and response. These awards are presented to individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding commitment to improving resilience, mitigating risks, and enhancing the nation’s ability to manage disasters effectively.
