New Delhi, March 1, 2025 – Hundreds of Kuki students and supporters gathered in New Delhi today for a peaceful rally, urging the government to expedite a political settlement for the Kuki community.
The demonstration, organized by the Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO), saw participants marching through key locations in the capital, holding banners and chanting slogans advocating for their rights.
The protestors emphasized the need for a separate political administration for the Kuki-Zo communities, citing ongoing ethnic tensions and security concerns in Manipur. Leaders of the movement submitted a memorandum to central government officials, urging immediate dialogue and resolution of their demands.
“We are here to make our voices heard. Our people have suffered for too long, and we demand justice and political recognition,” said a KSO representative at the rally.
Security was heightened in the area, but the protest remained peaceful with no reports of disturbances. The rally highlights the growing pressure on the government to address ethnic concerns in the Northeast and find a lasting solution to the crisis.
Government officials have yet to issue a formal response, but sources indicate that discussions on the issue are ongoing at various levels. The Kuki community remains hopeful that their demands will be met through negotiations in the near future.
