The Kuki Students’ Organisation, Delhi & NCR (KSOD&NCR) has issued a strong condemnation of the Joint Press Conference organized by the Meitei Alliance and Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), scheduled to take place today at Vishwa Yuva Kendra, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
KSOD&NCR, speaking on behalf of the Kuki community, has denounced the event as illegitimate, stating that it lacks the authority to determine the future of the Kuki people under the pretext of “Restoration of Peace in Manipur.” In its statement, KSOD&NCR accused TIM of being a fringe organization that fosters division within the Kuki community, particularly among the Thadou tribe.
The organization alleged that TIM has abandoned its original commitments and realigned itself with external entities for self-serving purposes, at the expense of the broader Kuki interests. KSOD&NCR further asserted that TIM’s actions constitute a betrayal of the legitimate mother organization, Thadou Inpi General Headquarters, Manipur, from which it was originally a part.
KSOD&NCR emphasized that any attempt to establish a sustainable peace process in Manipur must be grounded in justice. The organization reiterated the Kuki community’s demand for a Union Territory with Legislature under Article 239A, in accordance with Article 3 of the Indian Constitution, as a non-negotiable prerequisite for lasting stability.
The student body further warned against external interference in determining the future of the Kuki people, declaring that any negotiations or resolutions made without direct Kuki representation would be categorically rejected, strongly contested, and deemed null and void.
KSOD&NCR also urged media outlets to exercise caution when reporting on political developments in Manipur. The organization warned against lending credibility to fringe elements that seek to exploit the ongoing crisis for their own agendas. It emphasized that any misrepresentation of the Kuki people’s lived realities could further escalate tensions and hinder the path to a genuine and lasting solution, added the statement.
