Kangpokpi:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) and the United Naga Council (UNC) have jointly condemned the burning of homes in K. Songlung (Part-II) village, calling the incident a serious act that has caused panic and loss of property among residents.
In a joint press statement signed by KIM President Ch. Ajang Khongsai and UNC President Ng. Lorho today, the two apex bodies stated that households were allegedly set on fire in broad daylight on January 26, 2026. The statement attributed the incident to the Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) Kamson group. The organisations said the act had endangered innocent civilians and created fear within the affected village.
KIM and UNC appealed to the general public and all concerned groups to maintain peace and exercise restraint, particularly in the sensitive atmosphere between communities. They also cautioned people against spreading unverified information, rumours, or inflammatory content on social media and other platforms, warning that such actions could fuel further animosity and tension.
Expressing solidarity with the victims, the two bodies conveyed their concern for the affected families and stressed the need for immediate relief measures. They further underscored the importance of ensuring justice for those who have suffered losses due to the incident.
