J&K: Security Forces Ramp Up Operation in Kishtwar Targeting Jaish-e-Mohammed Militants

In Jammu and Kashmir, security forces intensified their anti-terror operations today in the snowbound Chatroo area of Kishtwar district to track down three suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad militants.

Mobile internet services were temporarily suspended within a six-kilometre radius covering Singhpora, Chingam, and Chatroo to prevent misuse during the operation. The operation, launched on January 18, had earlier seen a fierce gunfight in the Sonnar forest near Mandral-Singhpora, resulting in the death of a paratrooper and injuries to seven soldiers. The militants managed to escape through the dense forest, but the search has continued despite more than two feet of snowfall.

Subsequent encounters occurred at Mali Dana Top on January 22 and Janseer-Kandiwar on January 25, but the terrorists evaded capture, retreating further into the forest.

Meanwhile, a separate search operation is underway in Pajja Morh, Nabana Top, and nearby areas of Surankote in Poonch district, following reports of two suspected individuals. No contact has been made so far, and the operation is ongoing.
