With the deadline for the Special Revision (SR) of electoral rolls fast approaching, the Assam Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has urged eligible voters to complete all necessary formalities without delay. January 22, 2026, has been set as the final date for submitting claims, objections, and corrections, according to an official notification issued on Sunday, January 18.
The Special Revision is being conducted in line with the Election Commission of India (ECI) notification dated November 17, 2025. During this period, voters can apply for inclusion, deletion, correction of details, or change of residence within the prescribed timeline. New voters must submit Form 6 for registration, while Form 7 is used for objections or deletion of names from the electoral roll. Corrections in personal details or requests for change of residence within a constituency can be made using Form 8. All applications must be submitted on or before January 22, 2026.
The CEO’s office informed that applications can be submitted offline by contacting Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at designated polling stations, or by approaching the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) or Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO). Voters also have the option to apply online through the ECINET mobile application or the official website, voters.eci.gov.in.
The notification further clarified that there is no legal limit on the number of Form 7 applications an elector may file within their constituency, provided the objections are made in accordance with the law.
Urging citizens to remain vigilant, the Chief Electoral Officer appealed to voters to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls and take prompt corrective action if required. “All citizens are requested to ensure that every eligible voter is duly enrolled in the electoral roll of their respective constituency on or before January 22, 2026,” the statement said.
For further assistance or information, voters may contact their nearest Booth Level Officer or call the toll-free helpline number 1950.
