Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly’s Budget Session Kicks Off with LG Manoj Sinha’s Address

The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is set to commence its budget session today, starting with an address by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The address marks the formal opening of the session, setting the tone for discussions on the region’s developmental priorities and governance plans.

Following the LG’s speech, the House will deliberate on the Motion of Thanks over a three-day period from February 3 to 5. The session will culminate with a response from Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on February 5, providing the government’s perspective on the points raised during the discussion.

The budget for the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory for the fiscal year 2026-27 will be presented by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on February 6. Post the presentation, the assembly will engage in detailed discussions on the budget, including consideration of demands for grants submitted by various departments, allowing legislators to scrutinize allocations and priorities across sectors.

This session is expected to set the legislative and financial roadmap for Jammu and Kashmir for the upcoming year, highlighting key policy directions and government initiatives.
