India Post Exporters Eligible for Government Export Schemes

The Department of Posts has launched a new facility to support exporters, enabling them to access government export benefits when shipping products via India Post. These benefits include duty drawback, remission of duties and taxes on exported goods, and rebates on state and central levies. Previously, such incentives were largely available only for exports made through ports, airports, or private courier services.

According to the Ministry of Communications, this move is a significant step toward simplifying and expanding export access, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), artisans, start-ups, and small exporters who rely on the postal network for low- and medium-value international shipments. The facility has been in effect since 15 January, following notifications issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

Exports via India Post are facilitated through Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs), a collaborative initiative between the Department of Posts and CBIC that provides end-to-end export support under one roof. Currently, more than 1,000 DNKs operate nationwide, helping exporters from remote and underserved areas connect with global markets.
