Himanta stresses Assam probe is separate from Singapore inquiry in Zubeen Garg case

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on January 15 declined to comment on the proceedings in Singapore’s coroner’s court concerning the death of singer Zubeen Garg, saying political leaders should refrain from commenting on matters under judicial consideration.

Responding to media queries, Sarma said the Singapore Police had submitted their investigation report, which was subsequently examined by the court there. He подчеркed that the investigation being conducted in Singapore and the probe underway in Assam are separate and governed by their respective legal frameworks.

“Whatever you have read in the media, I have also read the same. Our investigation is different, and theirs is different,” the Chief Minister said, adding that it would be inappropriate for him to make further comments on the issue.

Sarma cautioned that political statements on such matters could be interpreted in multiple ways. “Since the matter is before the court, politicians should not interfere. We should stay away from what the court has said,” he said.

The Chief Minister’s remarks come amid heightened public attention following developments in Singapore’s coroner’s court and the parallel investigation being carried out by the Assam Police in connection with the singer’s death.
