Following the Republic Day arson in K. Songlung village, Kangpokpi district, a high-level joint peace meeting will be held at the district headquarters at 1 pm. Led by Hill Areas Committee Chairman Dipu Gangmei, the meeting will include tribal and civil society leaders from the Kuki CSOs, United Naga Council, Zeliangrong Union, Rongmei Naga People’s Organisation, and Tamei MLA Awangbow Newmai.
The initiative aims to foster dialogue, rebuild trust, and implement confidence-building measures after the violent incident. Authorities have reinforced security in K. Songlung, with continuous patrolling, surveillance, and pickets. Senior police officials visited the village and confirmed no casualties, while displaced residents were relocated to nearby Veitum Khullen village for safety.
Temporary shelters, food, and basic necessities are being provided with support from local Kuki communities. Officials emphasized that security and relief measures will continue alongside peace-building efforts to stabilise the region.
