The Gauhati High Court is set to deliver its verdict on Monday, March 3, regarding the bail plea of Mahbubul Hoque, Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).

Sources indicate that the court conducted a detailed hearing on Hoque’s bail application on Friday. After prolonged proceedings, the court reserved its judgment, stating that a decision would be made on Monday.

Hoque remains in legal custody in connection with two separate cases as his legal battle continues. He was arrested on February 21 by Sribhumi Police and was brought to Dispur Police Station earlier today for further investigation.

Following an extensive interrogation, he was taken to his residence in Guwahati’s Ghoramara under police supervision.

The USTM Chancellor was arrested over allegations of facilitating student promotions in exchange for money. His arrest followed a complaint filed by a Circle Officer from Patharkandi, Assam, exposing an alleged education sector racket.
