Government Brings Parties Together Ahead of Key Budget Session

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has convened an all-party meeting at 11 a.m. today to deliberate on key national issues and the legislative agenda ahead of the upcoming Budget Session of Parliament. The meeting will take place in the main committee room and is intended to foster coordination among political parties to ensure the smooth conduct of parliamentary business during the session.

The discussions are expected to focus on streamlining legislative work, building consensus on major policy matters, and managing issues that are likely to dominate debates in both Houses of Parliament. The Budget Session is scheduled to commence on January 28 and will continue until April 2.

The session will be held in two phases. The first phase will run from January 28 to February 13, followed by a recess. The second phase will resume on March 9 and conclude on April 2. In total, the Budget Session will include 30 sittings.

A key highlight of the session will be the presentation of the Union Budget for the financial year 2026–27, which is scheduled to be tabled on February 1. The session will formally begin with President Droupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of members of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, outlining the government’s legislative priorities and policy direction for the coming year.
