Five Militants Caught in Raids Across Imphal Valley Districts

Security forces in Manipur have arrested five militants associated with banned organizations from various districts in the Imphal Valley, police reported on January 15.

Three members of the proscribed Kangleipak Communist Party (Noyon) were apprehended in Mantripukhri Lamlongei Maning Leikai, Imphal East. Officials said they were allegedly involved in extorting local businesses.

In Imphal West, two militants linked to the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) were arrested. Shaggoslem Lokeshor Singh, 35, was detained from a relief camp in Mantop, Yumpham, while 19-year-old Shamulailatpam Arbin Sharma, associated with KYKL (SOREPA), was arrested in Uripok Achom Leikai.

Authorities stated that these arrests are part of ongoing efforts to dismantle extortion networks and curb insurgent activities in the valley. Investigations are continuing to determine the suspects’ connections to other militant operations in the state.
