Manipur Police arrested 23-year-old Surendrajit Oinam, the nephew of 76-year-old Oinam Thoibi Devi, in connection with her brutal killing in Imphal West. The victim, also known as Ibendhou or Pishakcha, was found dead in her Singjamei home on January 19, hidden under a bed and showing multiple stab wounds, a slit throat, and severed fingers.
The accused has confessed, and police are investigating potential accomplices. The murder has sparked fear and anger among locals, who held an emergency meeting and formed the “Joint Action Committee Against Brutal Killing of Oinam Thoibi” to seek justice. Police continue their probe to ensure all involved are identified and arrested.
