Marking the celebration of World Poetry Day, the Bytikram group under Bharatiya Associates organized a vibrant literary and cultural event at Vivanta Hotel in Guwahati last Saturday.
The programme brought together poets, writers, and artists from across the region, creating a platform for creative expression through poetry recitations and musical performances. The highlight of the event was the formal unveiling of the book “Lok Sahityar Jolongare” authored by Dr. Jayashri Devi.
The book, which explores the depth and richness of folk literature, was jointly released by a distinguished panel comprising Naren Hazarika, Editor-in-Chief of Dainandin Barta; Liladhar Hazarika, Editor-in-Chief of Dainik Ganashangbad; eminent artist Manisha Hazarika; noted poet Nilim Kumar; popular poet Pranab Kumar Barman; Soumen Bharatiya, President of Bytikram; Dr. Seema Kashyap, Managing Director of Aarohan; and Kayan JD, a multifaceted personality known for his work as a poet, screenplay writer, lyricist, director, translator, and philanthropist.
In addition to the book launch, an audio album titled “Kalaakar” was also released during the event. The album features six songs, with lyrics and music composed by Kayan J D. The melodic vocals have been rendered by Dr. Jayashri Devi, while the rap portions are performed by Kayan J D.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jayashri Devi and Kayan J D urged the public to extend their support and appreciation for both the book and the album. They emphasized the importance of promoting regional literature and music.
The event also featured the felicitation of several individuals for their significant contributions to literature and culture in India and abroad. Overall, the programme celebrated Assam’s vibrant literary heritage and artistic diversity, blending traditional folk elements with contemporary creative expression.
