Cachar Police Nab Another Fake Doctor, Seize Forged MBBS Certificate

Cachar Police have apprehended another individual for allegedly practising medicine using forged credentials, as part of their ongoing crackdown on illegal medical practitioners in the district.

The accused has been identified as Shamim Ahmed Laskar, a resident of the Bhaga area under Dholai, police said.

The arrest came after a written complaint was lodged by Dr. Abhijit Neog, Anti-Quackery and Vigilance Officer of the Assam Council of Medical Registration (ACMR). Acting on the complaint, police raided Laskar’s medical chamber on Saturday and detained him on the spot.

During the raid, authorities seized forged MBBS certificates and other related documents. Preliminary investigations indicate that Laskar had been operating the medical chamber illegally for an extended period, posing significant risks to public health.

Police stated that further investigation is ongoing to determine the full extent of his activities and whether others were involved. In recent months, Cachar Police have arrested nearly 20 individuals for practising medicine without proper qualifications, as part of a sustained drive against quackery in the district.
