BSF Jawan Critically Injured in Firing Incident in Ukhrul District


Ukhrul, Manipur | April 10, 2026 — A Border Security Force (BSF) personnel from the 170/A battalion was critically injured following a firing incident at Mongkot Chepu in Ukhrul district on Friday evening, around 4:50 PM.

According to reports, the firing is believed to have originated from suspected militant positions located in multiple areas, including near a residential structure, Khoklai hilltop, and the ridge above Iron’s fishery, as well as the vicinity opposite the Mongkot Chepu stone quarry.

Officials stated that the injured jawan sustained severe injuries and remains in critical condition. Local villagers reportedly provided immediate assistance at the scene, administering first aid and CPR before further medical care was arranged.

Sources indicate that the identified locations have allegedly been used in previous attacks in the area, raising ongoing security concerns for both civilians and personnel. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding any retaliatory action by security forces at the time of reporting.

Condemning the attack, the Kuki CSO Working Committee called upon the government to take urgent and decisive action to ensure security in the region. It urged authorities to address the alleged militant infrastructure and authorize stronger responses to armed attacks.
