France has deported Omar Binladin, son of Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, due to social media posts glorifying terrorism.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed signing the deportation order, citing Binladin’s 2023 posts, which included a tribute to his father on his birthday.

Binladin, married to a British national, had lived in Normandy’s Orne region for years, working as a landscape painter. French authorities searched for him in July 2023.

The deportation bars Binladin from returning to France. His current whereabouts remain undisclosed. Osama bin Laden was killed by US forces in 2011.
