Guwahati: The Assam Cricket Association (ACA) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Guwahati on Saturday, October 11, under the leadership of President Taranga Gogoi, marking a significant moment for the state’s cricket administration.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, district representatives, and members of the Apex Council, and also witnessed the announcement of ACA’s new Apex Council for the 2025–2028 term.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia attended the event as the Chief Guest, along with ACA Secretary Tridib Konwar, Vice President Rajdeep Oja, Joint Secretary Rajendra Singh, Treasurer Chiranjit Langthasa, and other members of the governing body.
The AGM began with a tribute to Assam’s cultural icon Zubeen Garg, followed by discussions on key administrative reports and future plans. Members unanimously approved the Secretary’s Report for 2024–25, adopted the Treasurer’s Report and audited accounts, and sanctioned the annual budget for 2025–26. The appointment of the auditor for the new financial year was also confirmed.
Deliberations during the session focused on the development of cricket in Assam, including player performance, infrastructure projects, and long-term strategic goals. To enhance communication and coordination, a new District Coordination Committee was formed to strengthen the link between ACA and its affiliated district units.
One of the major highlights of the meeting was the formation of the new Apex Council for the 2025–2028 term. Taranga Gogoi was unanimously re-elected as President, reaffirming members’ confidence in his leadership. Sanatan Das was elected unopposed as Secretary, while Romen Dutta took charge as Vice President. Rajendra Singh will continue as Joint Secretary, Anupam Deka as Treasurer, and Mukuta Nanda Bhattacharjya joins as a Member of the Apex Council. Additionally, Rajdeep Oja and Sudip Chakraborty were inducted as Members of the Governing Council for one year.
Adding to the significance of the day, Devajit Saikia unveiled a coffee table book titled “Celebrating Cricket, Building Future,” which chronicles Assam’s cricketing journey and its milestones over the years.
Under the leadership of President Taranga Gogoi and Secretary Sanatan Das, the new Apex Council has outlined a vision centered on professionalism, transparency, and the holistic growth of cricket in the state.
In its concluding note, the ACA extended its gratitude to all affiliated members, district associations, coaches, players, and supporters for their trust and cooperation. The new Council pledged to continue building on recent achievements and to take Assam cricket to greater heights in the years ahead.
