After UKLF, ZRO Welcomes Th. Muivah’s Upcoming Visit to Somdal After Five Decades

Lamka: Following the United Kuki Liberation Front’s (UKLF) message of goodwill, the Zomi Re-Unification Organisation (ZRO) has also extended a warm welcome to Thuingaleng Muivah, General Secretary of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN), on being permitted to visit his native Somdal village in Ukhrul district on October 22, 2025 — his first homecoming in more than five decades.

In a press release issued on Monday by the Central Executive Committee, ZRO described Muivah’s impending visit as a “euphoric moment” and a deeply symbolic event for the Naga and Zomi people alike. The organisation said Muivah’s return to his birthplace, where his revolutionary journey began, marks an emotional and historic occasion.

Acknowledging the octogenarian leader’s lifelong struggle, the ZRO praised Muivah for his sacrifices and commitment to the political identity and survival of his people. The statement described him as “a visionary leader whose statesmanship, diplomatic and negotiating skill is simply unmatched.”

The ZRO also lauded Muivah’s “bold and wise” decision to enter into a ceasefire agreement with the Government of India, noting that it reflected his and his organisation’s dedication to non-violence and peaceful negotiation.

“This vividly reflected that Shri Th. Muivah and his organisation chose the path of non-violence, peaceful and negotiated settlement of all political conflicts,” the ZRO stated, adding that it hoped a long-lasting and honourable political solution would be achieved “sooner than later.”

The organisation expressed optimism that Muivah’s visit would promote brotherhood, peace, and prosperity across the Northeast region. “ZRO wishes him sound health and a happy homecoming ceremony,” the statement concluded.
