Abducted man found dead, six Arambai Tenggol arrested

A man was reportedly beaten to death by members of the Arambai Tenggol yesterday in Thoubal District of Manipur. The deceased is identified as Md. Nawash, 33, son of Md. Leharuddin from Kairang Mayai Leikai.

Source said that Nawash was abducted from his home last Tuesday in connection with monetary demand made by Meitei outfit Arambai Tenggol. Arambai Tenggol however issued press statement that its members are not involved.

In connection with the incident, Manipur Police arrested six Arambai Tenggol members and registered criminal case against them.

The arrested individuals are Sagolsem Chingkheinganba Singh (25), Chingakham Sanatomba Singh (19), Sapam Somorjit Singh (32), Maibam Bokenjit Singh (24), Athokpam Jiban Singh (30)and and Chingakham Mani Singh (41).
