Aizawl,April 2026 : Mizoram has initiated a home voting facility for the upcoming Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) elections, aiming to ensure inclusive and accessible participation in the democratic process.
According to officials, a total of 2,769 eligible voters have been identified for this सुविधा.
The initiative primarily targets senior citizens aged 80 and above and persons with disabilities (PwDs), allowing them to cast their votes from the comfort of their homes.
Election teams, accompanied by security personnel, are visiting designated households with proper arrangements to maintain secrecy and fairness of the voting process. Authorities have emphasized that all necessary guidelines are being strictly followed to ensure transparency.
The home voting exercise is part of broader efforts by the Election Commission of India to make elections more accessible and voter-friendly, especially for those unable to visit polling stations.
Officials noted that the process has been smooth so far, with positive responses from beneficiaries. The initiative is expected to boost voter turnout and strengthen grassroots democracy in Aizawl.
