
The pre-primary textbook titled “HMAR INCHUKPHUT BU” (Hmar Primer), prepared by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) and the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), and translated and adapted by Mr. S. K. Khobung, Chief Housing Officer (Retd.), Assam State Housing Board, Guwahati, and President, Hmar Literature Society, Assam, was thoroughly checked, verified, and finally proofread.
As per news collected by Dr.Emmanuel L Hmar (Asst. Editor) The initiative was carried out by an expert team of resource persons from Hmar teaching faculties, namely Mr. Darkhumlien Pajamte, Mr. Liendailo Keivom, Mr. Haudinglien Thiek, Mrs. Ramtharmawi Tuolor Khobung, and Mr.Rosiem Khawbung. The workshop was also attended by expert teams representing the Assamese, Bodo, Deuri, Dimasa, Hmar, Karbi, Mising, Rabha, and Tiwa language groups. Mr. S. K. Khobung, President, Hmar Sahitya Sabha, Assam, was also present during the workshop.
The programme was organised to obtain feedback on primers in Indian languages by the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) – NCERT, in collaboration with the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Assam, at the Conference Hall, SCERT, Kahilipara, Guwahati, from February 2 to 5, 2026.
With the process now underway, it is expected that “HMAR INCHUKPHUT BU” (Hmar Primer) will be made available soon for the Hmar community, marking a significant development in the field of education.
