In a significant initiative to engage and inspire young talent across the nation, the Government has organised a special three-day program in New Delhi as part of the Republic Day celebrations, specifically for participants of the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS). Over 100 interns from various states and academic backgrounds have been invited to the capital to gain firsthand exposure to the workings of government and policymaking, and to witness the grandeur of the Republic Day festivities.
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs highlighted that these PMIS interns will hold the distinguished position of special guests at today’s Republic Day Parade, providing them a unique opportunity to experience one of the nation’s most iconic events from a privileged vantage point. This initiative reflects the government’s broader effort to connect young minds with the practical dimensions of governance while celebrating the country’s unity and democratic spirit.
As part of the program, the interns participated in interactive sessions with Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, where they had the opportunity to discuss their personal learning journeys, share their aspirations, and provide valuable feedback on their experiences under the PMIS. During his address, Minister Malhotra emphasized the transformative potential of the internship scheme, stating that PMIS is specifically designed to empower India’s youth by opening new avenues for growth and bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application. He encouraged the interns to leverage this experience to contribute meaningfully to national development and to continue exploring opportunities that foster both personal and professional growth.
The three-day program also includes guided tours, networking sessions, and immersive experiences that aim to deepen the interns’ understanding of governance, policymaking, and civic responsibility. Through this initiative, the government hopes to nurture a generation of informed, skilled, and motivated young leaders who are well-equipped to shape India’s future.
