Manipur Police and security forces carried out targeted operations across Imphal West, Imphal East, and Senapati districts, arresting a senior militant, his associate, and a key extortion operative.
On January 25, Yumnam Brojen Singh (54), a senior cadre of the banned RPF/PLA, was arrested from his Mayang Imphal residence. His brother, Yumnam Thomas Singh (45), was also detained for allegedly destroying evidence. Authorities seized mobile phones and Aadhaar cards.
Separately, on January 24, notorious extortionist Md Nawaj Khan (32) was arrested in Senapati. Officials recovered mobile phones, identity and financial documents, and multiple bank cards, which could help trace the extortion network.
Police said investigations continue to uncover further links, funding channels, and associates, reaffirming their commitment to public safety.
