Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Ukraine, the United States, and Russia will hold a trilateral meeting in the UAE today and tomorrow. This will be the first time since the 2022 conflict began that representatives from all three countries meet to discuss a potential end to the war.
Zelensky shared the announcement at the World Economic Forum in Davos after meeting with US President Donald Trump. Trump described their discussion as positive and emphasized the need for the conflict to end. Following the meeting, US officials, including envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, were scheduled to travel to Moscow before heading to Abu Dhabi for the summit.
Zelensky said the talks represent an important step, noting that success will require all parties—including Russia—to be willing to make compromises. While he mentioned that documents outlining security guarantees and post-war recovery plans are nearly ready, he cautioned that final negotiations will still be challenging. The UAE, which has previously played a role in mediation efforts such as prisoner exchanges, will host the discussions.
