Meghalaya: Tura Hosts Peace Meeting Following Rajabala Incident; Authorities Urge Calm, Caution Against Rumours

TURA, January 10 — A peace and communal harmony meeting was held today at 11 am at the Conference Hall of the Tura Circuit House in the aftermath of the Rajabala incident. The initiative was convened and chaired by Vibhor Aggarwal, Deputy Commissioner of West Garo Hills, Tura.

The meeting saw participation from the Superintendent of Police, district officials, and key community leaders, including representatives from the Central Puja Committee, Tura Mosque, Senior Citizens Forum, Tura Mother’s Union, and several social and youth organizations from the region.

Attendees were urged to uphold peace, promote mutual understanding, and avoid spreading rumors that could disrupt public order. The district administration reassured participants that law and order remain under control and promised strict action against any attempts to incite unrest.
