Mamata Should Be Arrested’: Chhattisgarh Deputy CM Vijay Sharma

Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma on Friday strongly criticised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of interfering with an Enforcement Directorate (ED) search at the offices of political consultancy firm I-PAC. He demanded the immediate registration of an FIR against Banerjee and called for her arrest, alleging obstruction of an official investigation.

Speaking to the media, Sharma said Banerjee was attempting to place herself above constitutional institutions. “She wants control over the Constitution and seeks to be above all constitutional bodies. This is unacceptable. The Constitution and the nation come first. Even if there are not one but 100 Mamata Banerjees, institutions will continue to function,” he said.

Sharma added that there is a defined legal procedure to halt or challenge an investigation and questioned Banerjee’s alleged method of disrupting the ED’s operations. “There is a proper way to raise objections or stop an investigation. What she has done does not follow that procedure,” he said.
